Chrome Text Effect
For this tip you will need Extensis Photo Tools.
- Open a new file using the dimensions you wish. I used 400 x 100 at 72 resolution in RGB mode.
- Decide which color you wish to start with.
- Pick the text tool and type your word. I chose the word chrome at 75 points using the Rockwell Extra Bold for my font.
- Select the text.
- Add a new layer.
- Expand the seletion by 2 pixels by clicking «select» «modify» «expand».
- Feather the selection by 2 pixels by clicking «select» «feather» or by using the keyboard shortcut (shift+control+D).
- Fill the selection with your color.
- Deselect your text.
- Then click on «filter» «stylize» «find edges».
- Add a flat inner bevel. «filter» «extensis» «photobevel».
- Click «filter» «stylize» «find edges».
- Add a new layer.
- Open the image file you want to be reflected in your chrome.
- Copy and paste on your new layer.
- Select your text. (be sure to stay on the new layer)
- Copy.
- Delete the layer, and add a new one.
- Click «edit» «paste».
- Using the marquee tool cut 1/2 off the top of the new layer.
- Using the layer manager, move the layer's opacity bar to 35%.
- You're done.
